Battlestar Galactica Online closed beta goes live
The closed beta test for Battlestar Galactica Online opens today. Battlestar Galactica Online is based on the popular SyFy Network television series. The series is a reset of the classic 1970’s sci-fi themed show about the humanoid remnants of a planet trying to survive against an army of robots in space.
The first phase of the Battlestar Galactica Online closed beta lets players in Europe and the United States play the browser based game and help developers work out any gameplay or technical problems.
During the closed beta, players complete tutorial missions as a human or Cylon. Once completed, players explore the universe on their own, where they can engage in PvE and PvP combat, and conduct mining operations. Currently the game offers access to the Battlestar Galactica, a Cylon Basestar, and a number of space outposts and planet bases.
Bigpoint plans to increase the number of closed beta participants on a daily basis in advance of the official open beta launch in December. Artplant, a Norwegian studio that specializes in online games is steering the game’s development. Battlestar Galactica Online is licensed through Universal Partnerships & Licensing on behalf of NBC Universal Television Consumer Products Group.
