Square Enix announced via its official site this morning that the Final Fantasy XIV beta planned for launch later today is postponed.

At issue are several critical bugs confirmed by the developer. Square Enix has no new date for the rescheduled beta, and they’ve also moved back the beta code handouts.

“With the download of client software’s installer,” the post reads, “it will be suspended at 19:00 (PDT) on Aug. 31, 2010.”

While we wait, why not check out our latest Final Fantasy XIV preview?
